Waaay better than book one in terms of pacing. The ending felt a bit haphazard, but it worked, I think. Glad I gave the series a second chance!

Jay Kristoff delivers another knockout with the second installment of the Empire of the Damned series. This book picks up right where the first left off, plunging readers back into a dark, gritty world filled with complex characters and high-stakes action. Kristoff's masterful storytelling keeps you on the edge of your seat, blending intricate plot twists with moments of raw emotion and unexpected humor.
The world-building continues to impress, expanding on the rich lore established in the first book while introducing fascinating new elements. Characters grow in compelling ways, facing increasingly difficult choices that test their loyalties and beliefs.
With its relentless pacing, vivid prose, and shocking revelations, this sequel not only lives up to but surpasses its predecessor. A must-read for fans of dark fantasy that pushes boundaries and defies expectations. I can't wait for the next book!

Empire of the damned

This book is amazing, just amazing. it has been a long time since I have read some this overpowering.

Wow!

BRO. I am still shook what an AWESOME BOOK. The story is as good as the first book and there so much memorable quotes, moments and illustrations.

Heaven was full and the Devil was afraid to open the door

Surround yourself with folk who confront you. If you're not being challenged, you're not learning anything. If you're the smartest man in the room, you're in the wrong fucking room

There is nothing that grows as deep on this green earth, nothing that shines as bright in all the gables of heaven, noting that burns as fierce in the blazing heart of hell, than a parent's love for their child.

These are just some that i wrote down but there are so much more great quotes.

The sex scenes are absolutely SMUT they are almost like porn! Luckily that doesn't bother me but beware for people that do care a little more than me. As Jay Kristoff says this is NOT a childrens book.

And that end... lets not talk about that... Its heartbreaking but fits so well into the story. It did end on a huge cliffhanger though. It will be a tough (couple) year(s)

Absolutely brilliant, what a gripping second book to this story. Just as packed as the first.

I waited two long years for this sequel and hoped it would be worth the wait. It was.
