Disgraced princess decides to flee the castle rather than blindly accepting her family's plans. I loved the story, the use of social commentary and slow romance. My favorite part, however, is obviously the tea dragon!

This was an enjoyable tale. It was not your typical urban fantasy in the best way. It's the perfect thing to lift your spirits when you are down. It makes me think of Legends and Lattes. It gives me the same kind of low-stakes fantasy that I loved so much in that book. I hope more of this writing style comes out.

At first I was intrigued but as the story went on I got a bit bored of the focus on politics. Plus I never really got what was so special about the tea ceremony and tea masters. Why should someone that makes a mean cup of tea automatically do politics as well?
it also seemed like it would be a gay love story which I’d have preferred

A nice entry into the cozy fantasy genre but one that doesn't follow the Legends and Lattes formula. I found this to be a quick enjoyable read about a character finding her place and her voice in the world. I liked the way magic works in this settling. I enjoy when small, quiet things (like tea service and studying together) end up feeling special and being important. Overall I enjoyed all of the characters and how their stories linked together as a found family. The things keeping this from being a 5 star for me were that the FMC could get a little annoying and repetitive towards the end and the racial/oppression story lines seem to hit you over the head at times. Still a read that left me feeling warm and fuzzy though and I'll be checking out the rest of the series.

I can’t wait to finish the series.
