Oh good God. That was the only thing I could say after reading this book. I knew it wasn't going to be as "fun" as Magical Thinking. I knew it was going to be about alcoholism. And it was, oh god, it was. But it was so impossible to put down. If you go into this book thinking it's going to be about an alcoholic who blacks out every now and then, you're wrong. It goes to places...places that you know exist, but that you don't think about because they are out of the realm of anything you have ever experienced. As someone going into mental health counseling, I love this book, I applaud it, and I will recommend it to any client I see that I think can handle it. It isn't for the fainthearted, and it may even act as a trigger to some. But damn, is it good, and powerful.

Burroughs’ vulnerability paired with his satirical style bring about feelings of hopefulness for the reader. Despite life’s tumultuous and chaotic nature, Burroughs exemplifies physical and mental fortitude while experiencing difficult challenges.
After reading ‘Dry,’ I felt like I’d made a new friend.

I didn't like this as much as Running with Scissors but again very funny.

I wish I could give this book 3.5 stars, because it was better than Running with Scissors, but not quite a "Really Liked It". I suppose Dry was better mainly because it was a heck of a lot more belieable than Running with Scissors. Dry is Burroughs life before, during and after alcohol rehab, and while not a gripping novel, was a pretty easy read. If you were turned off by the insane, outlandishness of Running with Scissors, read Dry...it sounds much more like a memoir and less like fiction.
