Color analysis has really evolved since this book! Only four seasons here, like mature, and according to Carol you really only fit into one. There are also sections on makeup, body type (basic Kibbe), hair, and building your wardrobe. Despite dated information and an unfortunately very narrow lens (ie super whitewashed), it was fascinating to read some of Carol Jackson’s timeless pearls of wisdom. Intentionally and patiently building your wardrobe was and always will be worth your time and money!!

If you ever want to read so many color names you can no longer make sense of terms like "warm gray" and "taupe" and "bright navy" and "lemon yellow," or think so hard about what color your hair is you can no longer tell, this is the book for you! Every time I settled on Summer, I'd read a detail that tipped me back into Autumn. In the modern versions maybe I'm a "soft autumn" or a "soft summer." If only I could actually decide what color hair and eyes I have! (Not even joking, I cannot match my brown hair and who-knows-what-color eyes to any of the words in this book)

I loved this book when it first came out. I still follow the basics. I am a summer and love it!

You know what? YES. This is good. A simple, easy to follow guide about choosing your colors. I think I may have just saved myself $300 for that fancy consultation from House of Color (which is based on this book!)

this book is ridiculous and has not aged well. racism and fatphobia are in abundance. the tone is... idk how to explain it. it's like a stepford wife how to. i came to this book because of jasika nicole and found the seasonal colour palette readings helpful despite all the isms, but the other sections talking about body types, how to dress for them, and makeup/hairstyling tips are super dated.

I owned this book years back, then have no idea what happened to it, so got it again as I remember it being so useful. The color combinations make a lot of sense. It's dated but the color matches aren't really something that goes out of style. Since this book I mainly shop by "my colors" and finds it works every time. The month stuff is a bit confusing and I do suspect many people are a mixture more than the book allows and wish there were easier ways of telling - this part could stand to be updated!
