Hailey has done it again Wow is all that I can say. I laughed and cried and screamed in a few spots. Twists and turns and betrayal from the least expected people. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the next installment in this book series.

Oh my God, this book stressed me out so good. I felt so bad leaving everyone where I did when I stopped last night but it was so late and I had to sleep - Blaine, forgive me; Soren, you were in a gd coffin overnight, babe, I'm so sorry. *cries* This was packed with so much and was so damn intense and engaging and, just like the first book, everything was parceled out so well considering how much there was. The skill in just disseminating information without it ever feeling like too much or too little is amazing.
I love this world and I remembered it really well. I read a lot, that does not happen often but I was so invested in everyone, especially Nathaniel and Caris at the end of book one (and can I just say: YAY! on that front and more of them just being able to be happy and together, please), that I absolutely remembered everyone's stakes and where they were in the story. I cannot wait until book three because FUCKING WAR, MAN. Though, I mainly need to know Honovi (beautiful, perfect man) and Blaine get their happily ever after because those two are my whole friggin' heart now.

So much happened in THE EMPEROR'S BONE PALACE and it was a wild ride that really ramped up in the second half. The first few chapters were a bit slow for me so it took to about 30% before I was fully invested in these characters again. It's been months since I finished book 1 so that have contributed to my slow start.
I still loved Blaine and Honovi with my whole heart and they were truly put through the ringer in this one. But through it all they were supporting each other, fighting for each other, and always devoted.
Caris also developed more and we're seeing her come into her own now that she's grown up a bit from book 1. Her romance with Nathaniel is sweet and a slow burn but I loved how much Nathaniel cared for Caris. Nathaniel was also up against some serious obstacles and I hope he'll make it through everything.
And of course Soren and Vanya were probably still the most prominent characters. Their journey is to love is far from over and in fact it's hit a big bump. I feel for Vanya's situation but my heart breaks for Soren and I just want him to be loved. I'm looking forward to seeing these two work things out in book 3.
