Essential reading from one of Chile's best writers. Serious and silly but searing all the same.

Funny and provocative. I still lack the overarching conceptual framework to really even "rate" a book of poetry (or antipoetry). But I can see why Bolaño called himself a follower of Parra rather than of Neruda. (You knew the Bolaño reference was coming, right?)

may we all write poetry this biting, beautiful, timely, and true when we are 90. it captures the feel of countries and the voice of several generations. not bad for something that's not supposed to be anything...but then again, that's parra.
