2 stars and I'm being generous with that...
I don't understand this book. Why did any of these events happen?? I get that it's interesting to have a "chameleon" girl as a heroine - the concept drew me in and it was fun to see Jule modify her accents and appearance so easily. In addition, she's strong and knows martial arts. All these qualities combined make me slightly envious, and therefore interested in Jule as a character. But then...it's not like Jule is a spy trying to learn state secrets or anything. She's just a narcissistic girl who's a pathological liar and...steals Imogen's identity? Becaaauuuseeee....she kills her? But why was she so attached to Imogen? Did they even go to Green Briar together? Why would the parents ask this teenaged stranger to find their daughter? And none of this would've happened if Jule's roommate hadn't been sick that one day...UGH my head hurts trying to make sense of all the coincidences and reasons behind Jule's actions. My big question at the end of all this is just Why?
Ok wait, and Jule was telling Forest "oh my best friend just died and i'm grieving, that's why I'm being weird!" but...they weren't best friends, and wouldn't Forest know that?? He's suspicious anyways, so he hires the detectives and they come to the...opposite conclusion of what happened? That "Imogen" killed Jule and ran away? But Forest knows that Jule is alive and Imogen has disappeared, wouldn't that info get conveyed to the detectives somehow?? GOD i'm just so lost wtf what was this book why did any of these events happen UGH.

The concept was nice but you keep waiting and waiting for a big plot twist to happen and then it doesn’t. The story starts at the end but as it goes through it skips around which was harder to follow. Some parts I was super interested in and then other parts were like eh
Reviewing this book is almost impossible review without spoilers!! I would recommend NOT reading reviews before the book as going in blind is the best way to read this one!

It's a gender-bent The Talented Mr. Ripley told in reverse.
The plot was too similar to many other books (particularly TTMR) and that really bothered me.

Fast paced, mystery, suspenseful, thriller type of read that goes back in time - starting with the main event and working backwards through the story.

I LOVED this riff on The Talented Mr Ripley. Ideal for teen readers who don’t want soft and cuddly and who appreciate a young female protagonist who has no hesitation in grabbing what she wants. See my full review here.
