”So much of Immie was in Jule now. That was consolation.”

i don’t know if i should root for her ingenious skills or condemn her for her crimes.

anyway, this was thrilling. like any other e. lockhart book, this is filled with twists, even if they are a little obvious.

*i will say, this book is hella confusing. it’s constantly skipping back and forth through time. every little detail counts.

bottom line: i would recommend, but the writing style is not for everyone. better than family of liars.

it’s messed up. it’s crazy. it’s confusing. it’s thrilling.

*what is Jule’s motive for these terrible crimes and clever plans? i’m still trying to figure that out.

recommended to smart people

I enjoyed this book, and the style of writing was interesting and engaging. But, the ending wasn’t particularly wrapped up well, which left me disappointed.

Different to read a book with the chapters going back in time. Look forward to reading her other book, We Were Liars.

La chronologie peut être difficile à lire, mais c’est un excellent livre, avec une chute incroyable.

I understand the tradition Lockhart's working in here, but I always find her work strongest when it features an accessibly imperfect narrator, which is basically the opposite of what she's going for with Jule. Still a fun, quick read, but not one of her best.

This was an amazing read! I highly recommend.

The main character is highly unreliable, which is clear from the beginning. And there are so many questions to be answered.

I think this is one of those books that's best enjoyed when you know very little about it so I don't want to go into too much detail.

If you liked We Were Liars you will like this one too!

I immediately saw the parallels between this book and The Talented Mr. Ripley, but I thought, oh surely this author will have a twist, (maybe like We Were Liars??) that would make me sit up and take notice.

Nope. Even though I read this book in record speed, I wished that it was more than a 21st century update of what really happened to Nicky Greenleaf in Italy. The gimmicks (Girls this time! Email, texts and Instagram! Backwards timeline!) weren't quite enough to make this book great.
