I wanted to love this book as much as I did the first one. But unfortunately, it just couldn't happen.

I think this book was a bit too dramatic, it sometimes made me cringe. Belly is a lot more desperate in this book, Conrad a lot moodier and Jeremy, well, there was nothing different about Jeremy really.

I also didn't really like how the narration alternated between Jeremy and Belly.

They kept talking about the past just like the last book, except this time there were no ages indicated, so most of the time I was just confused about what time period they were narrating and I had to think for a while before I could get it.

What I really disliked the most about this book though was the cliffhanger ending. I didn't like this book but I'm still definitely looking forward to getting my hands on the 3rd one. I just need to know how all this drama ends.

⚠️TW: loss of a parent, cancer, ⚠️

💭 Overall thoughts:
Again, mixed reviews.. my friends love it, Goodreads reviewers.. not so much.. this time I'm going in with the mindset that it's young adult.. maybe I won't judge Belly too harshly this time..

Okay, so reading this book with the fact that it's young adult in mind made it a little easier to enjoy. However, Belly still annoyed me a little. 4/5 ⭐ the last book better tell us who she ends up with, even if it's not either of them.

⚠️ SPOILERS IN FORM OF MY PLAY-BY-PLAY THOUGHTS ⚠️

I'm starting out stating my thoughts from last book.. Team Neither? I get that Conrad was going through what was happening with him mom, but he didn't have to be a dick and then act like he's always liked Belly? And then Jeremiah only seemed to be interested in her once Cam showed up? Nah..

I knew she was going to die, yet here I am bawling..

When they went to Cousins that night in December did she lose her virginity to him? She said it made everything seem worth waiting for..

I still don't like Taylor.. she doesn't seem like a supportive friend at all.

Did they think to check Cousins for Conrad? If he said they would always go back there.. maybe he went back there??

I like that we get POV from Jeremiah this book. I like seeing when he started to notice her more than a friend.

Her memories of how small and frail Susannah looked are wrecking me. I lost my mom to cancer, and watching her be this ghost of a woman when she was towards the end was so hard.

Okay, so their trip to Cousins that December didn't include sex. So that's good that Conrad isn't being a tool to her after her got in her pants. But there's no reason for him to be a jerk.

I thought they rode with Steven and his date to the prom? Did they drop them off back at the house so Conrad would have his car?

I know he's lying to make his mom happy, but I'm pissed he's lying about how prom went. Like, he didn't even remember the theme.

Why are they acting so surprised he is at the beach? It's probably where he feels his mom the most.

IDC if that necklace really was bought for Belly.. she shouldn't have put it on.. that made me cringe..

The first bit of chapter 16 was like copy and pasted from book 1..

So that's why he went to the summer house. His dad plans on selling it..

Belly is a crap best friend ?? BELLY? She may be immature sometimes, but it's not Belly that's the crap best friend.. it's Taylor..

My heart broke when Belly told her mom she wished Susannah had been her mom.

Ugh. Why is Conrad getting so mad? He isn't sharing his feelings with Belly, how is she supposed to know what he actually feels?

She keeps acting like she's over Conrad for good.. but it's not that simple..

I like the little teaser about the future. It better let us know in the last book.

I liked this less than the first one. It wasn’t the fun summer read I was hoping for, like book #1 was.
