Love it. I don’t have a lot of experience with graphic novels, but it is truly a unique story that grapples with the human condition in a way that I love reading.

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, either. The concept was good. There were some storytelling issues. I wish there was less characters because most of my confusion stemmed from the fact that there was too many characters. Some of these characters weren't even too important. I might post a more coherent review for this soon - or when I get the time.

This is an interesting take on the zombie genre; what if people came back from the dead and they were still the people they were before? Well, mostly the same, as the story continues we see that some people are reacting differently.

What I really liked about this was the small town America setting, where everyone knows everyone and there are plenty of different personal stories. This volume included issues #1-5 and is mostly just introducing the players so some might find it a little slow, but I liked the effort to make the characters have a bit more depth, and things they were worried about that had nothing to do with the dead coming back to life.

The main character is Officer Dana Cypress, a female cop in Wausau, Wisconsin, forever seeking her father's approval (which is why she joined the force) and has been growing distant from her sister. But her sister's more involved in this weird occurance than Dana would expect. The representative from the CDC (or equivalent) is Muslim doing non-stereotypical Muslim things, like investigating, hoorah. There's also a nutjob exorcist roaming around too, the perfect chance for him to ply his trade.

I'll definitely give the next volume a try. There's some intriguing threads cropping up. I also really like Image's trend (well from the comics I've read so far) of having a different artist to do full page illustrations for the start/end of chapters.

This novel here was all sorts of weird! Not a bad thing, at all. But, some parts were too much at times, while others fit perfectly with the eeriness of the story. It was one of those in-between good and bad, all at the same time. Plus, it took place in Wisconsin, in a rural part of town, that already makes the feels creepy and intensely goosebumpy (yes, I often like the rightness of wrong words lol).

It just was. I mean, yes, there were some parts I could do without, like the character that was used to exorcise the evil out (way too much in here, but it is what it is). Then it showed us that not everything was as it seemed, or made to be as unappealing as he was. Yes, it's a form of zombies, mixed with some kind of supernatural apocalyptic moments, and of course that bizarre alien like being, but it worked.

So much of what was in those pages, kept my mind interested. The weirdness worked for me (well, enough to pick up the next issues). And, yes it wasn't the best in its genre. There are definitely tons of other graphic novels out there that were probably done better, but it still caught my attention with the mix of elements it had. Maybe, not enough to rate higher for me, but just enough to keep me coming back.

fantastically creepy and strange. revival was impossible to put down. it's a new take on a familiar genre that is unpredictable and totally compelling. beautiful artwork and top notch writing make this a must read for fans of horror and noir.

I enjoyed the first five issues of Revival. The artwork is great, the story is intriguing, and I like the characters. And, of course, as I am a Wisconsinite myself, I enjoyed the setting.

I can't wait to see how the story arch progresses, particularly with Em. What a badass character she could be.
