4.5 stars, couldn't put it down.  Everyone was a suspect and the final reveal didn't disappoint.  I liked Marin's character and even though some of her actions were questionable, you can understand how she got there.

The beginning of this book right from the first chapter was just awesome. I loved the ride and felt my heart pounding for the characters. I wanted to know what had happened, how it had happened, what was going to happen... it was heartstopping. If I had stopped at the 75% mark this could have been a 5 star. However, the book continued and the layers of unbelievable and far-fetched, and flung-together really took over for me. It was definitely dark and twisty, but not in a way I apprecaited.

I thought this was very slow and I honestly didn’t care. The first chapter was really good but then it got boring for like 60% because I did not care about this man cheating. Also I was just thinking about it and thinking of theories and I was right I don’t know how I guessed it but I did so I’m kind of like upset me because I actually really like that person. I do think you would like this if you like to see characters and how situations can affect them and the things they might do.

This was a fantastic thriller! So many twists and turns, things I never saw coming! I was in a bit of a reading slump so it took me a while to get into it, but once I started reading more I couldn’t put it down. I’ve never read anything by this author but now I need to!

So I was so hyped and invested, but after 200 pages I figured out what happened and who was the one that kidnapped her son. So I am disappointed…at the beggining I was a little bit afraid of reading bc this was my first thriller in the 3rd person. I kinda loved and hated it, because sometimes it gave me some information from this perspective, but sometimes it was so fcking confusing, I didnt know who is meant by he oder she.
So overall great writing style, but the plot twist was too easy and not shocking for me. It was boring.
So its 2.5/5, bc i was kinda invested.

After reading Jar of Hearts, I knew I needed to check out Jennifer Hillier’s other book, Little Secrets.  I went in trying not to expect the same level of greatness because that’s a tough bar to clear, and I’m glad because this was a very different book.  It opens with a child abduction which may be enough for some to not pick this book up, though I will say that it is not the focus of the story – it’s what sets things in motion.

The tragedy of losing her son consumes the protagonist’s life and the majority of the story takes place over a year later.  She and her husband begin having problems and she discovers he is having an affair with a younger woman; everything swirls around these three.  The characters are all taking questionable actions and the tension builds for the reader because you can read each character’s inner thoughts, but they can’t see each other accurately.

Overall, this was a decent suspense book, not quite a thriller.  I read it quickly so it’s fair to call it a page-turner and I’d recommend it for anyone who likes psychological mystery where you don’t know which characters to trust.  The twist ending is going to be a surprise for some and totally predictable for others – I was the latter and really wanted to be the former.

For mystery-lovers, I don’t think you can go wrong with Jennifer Hillier books – she dreams up awful situations and somehow gets you to enjoy reading about them.  Jar of Hearts is still my favorite of hers, and it was fun to see a different style from her.

I had a very hard time getting into this book at first but I ended up slowly beginning to enjoy it. I couldn't stand any of the characters but the plot/mystery was intriguing and I didn't see most of the twists coming.
