I really enjoyed this book, but the third act conflict was drawn out too long for me to give this 4 stars. Some of the side characters were also annoying. The writing style was funny and unique though.

The prose was a little hard to keep up with sometimes but honestly once I got it I got it. This story was delightfully emotional and I love how it dove into mental health issues.

Also,
"Judy glanced up from her almost-empty bowl. No wonder the queen was still goingβ€”they clearly made the aristocracy out of concrete."
the cackle that escaped me when I read this part LMAO.

Luc is tangentially famous - the child of two musicians - and it’s made his life a mess. Hounded by paparazzi who wait outside for salacious gossip, Luc trusts no one.

With good reason - his last long haul boyfriend sold their story for 50K.

But his reputation is affecting his career and he needs a quick fix, or at the very least, a date to the big fundraiser he’s organized.

Oliver Blackwood is stunningly attractive, well put together, a barrister who works hard and stays out of the limelight.

But Oliver can’t get a relationship to stick either, and with his parents’ anniversary party looming, he knows he needs a date.

So these two make an agreement: fake date long enough to make it through these important events and then go  their own way.

Spoiler alert: They, in fact, do not go their own way.

Oh man, I am a stan for these two dumb dummies. I love them with my whole heart.

Luc is a mess, emotionally and physically. He’s been hurt so many times, he no longer believes he has value to add to anyone’s life. His relationship with his mom is the sweetest you’ll find.

Oliver seems to have it all together, but three minutes into the visit with his parents and you see the cracks.

These two keep showing up for one another, and it is a damn delight. I love how they continue to say it’s fake but slowly end up in real love.

I am not a fan of third act break ups, but it fits here, she says grudgingly.

Don’t ask me how loudly I squealed when I found it’s a trilogy.

Red, White & Royal Blue (without the crown) and We Could Be So Good (but modern day) - plus a healthy dose of the best humor

Absolutely! While therapy would do wonders for these boys, you won’t be able to help yourself - you’ll want to give β€˜em both a hug.

The first time you hear Jameson pronounce Lucien β€œLou see en” your knees will go weak. Single narration done incredibly well with the slightest difference in our leads’ voices and a woman with a French accent, too!

None spice but all of the drama. You need to be a fan of British humor to laugh at some of the jokes. While I was debating on giving this a lower rating, the drama towards the end really bumped it up for me.
This book dragged on in some places and it really didn't need to be as long as it was but the audiobook was at least entertaining enough to get to the end.
I was hoping for any bit of spice but the pining and the lead up to the fade to blacks were great.

I loved this so much! So sad it's over. Just want I needed to read right now.

Very cute romance book. The characters felt real and I loved all of their interactions. Also I love that there was no miscommunication or anything. Over all a good and easy book!
