With some backstory starting to rear its head, the demonkind-oppressed world of Berserk is finally seeming like a fitting fantasy adventure setting. It lacks a bit of the macro-political intrigue I like in fantasy genres (so far) but the action and art are superb.

I cannot believe this is my first time really reading Berserk. I have always heard of it and seen the artwork. I had friends talk about it in length and now, I can understand fully as to why. This is one of the best manga series I have picked up in my life. I browsed a little at one point and set it down, then decided to buy the deluxe edition. Worse case scenario is I had a big book to gain inspiration from for my own artwork. I am so glad I bought this and will 110% be buying the next edition and the one after that. This is worth a spot on any manga fans “to read” list. I am ready for more!!!

Berserk is a story that I've wanted to read for a very long time due to its notoriety.  I wish I hadn't waited so long.  While I find that Guts isn't lovable yet, I am dying to continue this story because of the masterful artwork.  Kentaro Muira was incredible and I am sadden by his passing.
