I love little Pookie for his name alone! My oldest picked this out for her sister's first birthday book and at 3 she enjoys it more than the little one. I love Pookie's excitement and I love that Boynton made him take a nap even on his birthday! ;) Fun rhymes as always!
This is the *first* book my son calls for by title ... He will point at it and emphatically call out, “POOKIE!” It’s a sweet end to reading time before bed.
Some of the rhymes were a little weird, but the toddler liked the shimmy-shimmy-shake. Might be one to grow into.
We read this while snuggling on the couch. I think the reading lacked a certain something. Note to self, try actually dancing.
April 2017 - I know we read this one a bunch when Ben was a young toddler, but he chose it last night and wanted to read it again immediately. The humor really hit home at 4!
April 2017 - along with [b:What's Wrong, Little Pookie?|488898|What's Wrong, Little Pookie?|Sandra Boynton|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1320465894s/488898.jpg|477152], Ben chose this to read at bedtime and loved it. I read this so many times when he was a baby/toddler that I had it memorized, and it was just as much a hit at 4 as at 1 or 2.
This is probably a book best accompanied with music since the kiddos were unimpressed with my improvised sing-song telling.
