I appreciated how this book asked us to jump in and believe Ursa. I rooted for her and enjoyed her. The story is sweet; the dialogue is mostly believable; the characters are well drawn. The story unraveled a bit for me in the last 25% ... fairly implausible logistics. But still a wonderfully heart-warming story.

Well, this novel. Absolutely gut-wrenching, heartwarming, adorable, clever, and completely consuming.
I could not tear myself away from this story- and from Ursa: who is she? Where is she from? This beautifully intelligent and sweet child, who clearly has some sort of mysterious past.
And Jo and Gabe- their care and compassion for her, but also the complete disregard for society’s “rules” and laws….

I was sobbing in the end- so many moments in the last 1/4 of this story were just… everything. Absolutely loved this novel, and would wholeheartedly read more by this author.

A Kindle Free Book. I enjoyed the story. The dialogue and prose m, although simplistic and easy-to-understand is tedious to get through. I did enjoy the incorporation of naturalism and other sciences with a pseudo-academic yet semi-rural setting. The climax near the end is rushed and not surprising but you did want to read through. I also liked the inclusion of “5 Miracles” to keep the reader moving and guessing. Overall this is really 2-1/2 stars but an original story worth reading.
