This is a solid madcap murder mystery caper. This book reminded me a lot of the Bagthorpes' series I read when I was a kid - wacky British people shenanigans! It got a little draggy, and I figured out the whodunnit pretty quick, but it was still an enjoyable read.

It’s just so hard to try and cover up a murder…especially when you are old…

The Sunset Years of Agnes Sharp by Leonie Swann is both a mystery and a reverse mystery as a group of old folks try to find out who killed their neighbor while also covering up that they killed one of their housemates.

Agnes Sharp lives in a house share, and there came a time when the residents of the house decided to kill one of their own. Or it was an accident…after all it was Marshall who had the gun on hand and pulled the trigger.

It was lucky that someone also killed their include neighbor…since two elderly lady deaths feels like a larger and not two isolated unrelated events that might draw suspicion on the other residents of the house share…

Thus begins a saga of both trying to find out who killed their neighbor while also trying to determine the best way to the pin their murder on the suspect as well.

However…more importantly is the saga of Hettie the tortoise…who just wants to nibble on lettuce and rest on your hot stone. Hettie doesn’t need this junk thinking her day…but it’s gonna happen anyway…

A nice twist on the Thursday murder club or brindlewood bay types…but it doesn’t help that the killers are slowly going senile…

This was supposed to be a funny, cozy mystery but it kind of wasn't. It was a kind of stereotypical look at seniors. Also, I wasn't ever sure if something was real, ie. The friend commiting suicide because of possible abuse..
