Louise joins the pack of beloved old ladies. What a hoot and the backstory you eventually land in is great. Tanner is a great realistic partner as well.

Fun, heart-warming and I definitely didn't guess the ending.

I really do love stories about unlikely friendships (and heists).

This book felt like it was written for me. I love a cross-generational friendship, complicated women, characters who grapple with nuance and ethics in a broken world, plus a little suspense, plenty of humor, and a cross-country road trip. Put this in my veins!

A little different than my norm, but a welcome change.
The nugget quote:
Sometimes it feels like we spend so much time teaching the house not to catch fire instead of teaching the arsonist not to light it.

Audio version. I enjoyed this story. It was fun, silly, charming and heartwarming. It was a little outlandish in a way, but I really liked the characters and the interaction between the two main ones. I’ve been thinking a lot about how when we start a book, we are entering into a new world, a new setting. Almost like a vacation. This one was a true adventure in my opinion. Not only the cross country car trip, but the twists in the plot were fun too. The romance was not too cheesy. There were a lot of parts where I actually laughed out loud. I was only disappointed that I didn’t get more information about what Tanner did at the end of the story.

Usually when I depart from my go-to authors/genres, I’m reminded of why I stick with those because the *different* books are just bad. Thankfully, this time I was rewarded for the risk. The blurb about the book didn’t really grab me, but all of the great reviews convinced me to try it. Ultimately, this was a very well-written tale about two women - one old, sassy but generous and one young, insecure, and disappointed. Each of them grapple with their own issues, learning to trust each other, and discover how much they truly have to offer. Yet, it doesn’t become dull, depressing, or drag on too long like many books of this ilk tend to do. Instead, it’s full of laughs, tender moments, and lots of good vibes. Highly recommend! And I agree with the other reviewers who say that it demands a movie version - it would likely be even more entertaining to watch!
