3.5 ⭐️ maybe? This was an odd one. Fantasy but set in the future - a future where magic beings took over Earth and rule. So they have powers but they also have cell phones and selfies and guns and cars. Humans are slaves or similar status and have been trying to fight against the oppression.

I can’t eloquently put into words why I didn’t love this one. There was a special sauce missing. However, I (unfortunately) saw a spoiler for a later book and now I’m interested to see how it all plays out, so I’ll keep reading.

At times, a tad predictable, but still managed to keep me turning pages and still shocked me quite a bit. Even with the complicated world building at first, it was easy to follow and comprehend.

The first 100 pages is a lot. They throw a lot of world building and characters at you all at once. Get past it and the rest of the series is amazing! I loved this series! One of my favorite FMCs!

- all romantasy readers! Must Read!
- readers that love tension and romance
- readers that love ACOTAR (the magic and universe are all connected so you have to read it all!)
