I’ve tried starting this book 3 different times because the world building was too much for me. I am so glad I ended getting it.
This book, much like SJMs other works was so good and absolutely worth it. I liked the dynamic between Hunt and Bryce, but I ADORED the friendship of Danika and Bryce. To see how much they loved one another in life and death was beautiful. Anything related to the entire pack of devils had be absolutely sobbing at the last 20% of the book it was just so sweet yet heartbreaking.

why is acotar sjm’s most popular series when this exists
I had so much fun reading this. I expected to not like it and am pleased to say that my experience was the exact opposite. It's a long book, but personally, I'm not mad about it. I do think with a bit of modifying this could've been a really great standalone novel tbh but I'm eager to see where the next book goes. I love Bryce Quinlan so much. Her journey dealing with the loss of someone super close to her is really well done and very realistic. I found myself tearing up several times alongside her. I found the world-building to be fascinating, the way first light works is interesting as hell. I loved the combination of murder mystery and fantasy even if it was basically Zootopia fanfic lmao. I really liked the way Hunt and Bryce's relationship developed from hostile acquaintances to something more. Loved the bond between Bryce and Ruhn and how it grew. I really loved that Bryce and Danika had a really close platonic relationship that had such a strong impact on Bryce. I loved Syrinx and the fan art for him brings me life. I loved Lehabah and her cute af nicknames for everyone. The ending was incredibly exciting and kinda wild. Honestly, this book was a wild ride in general but I had fun reading it. I'm excited to read the sequel.

All I can say is WOW! After getting up to speed with the ACOTAR series, I didn't know what to expect from Crescent City. It took me a little while to get used to the pacing and setting, as it's very different from ACOTAR, but it's different in such a good way. The plot and character development is so much richer and more detailed, and while I love ACOTAR, it just isn't as detailed and complex as crescent city.
I adored all the characters, flaws and all. In fact, their flaws are what made them all the more likable. Bryce, Hunt, Ruhn, and all the others are so perfectly imperfect. The plot had so many twists and turns that I never saw coming. I laughed, I gasped, I cried. I truly felt it all!
Definitely one of my favourite books I've read, and I can't wait to read the next one.

At first I was wary on how I’d feel because I loved ACOTAR and TOG so much and I had heard this one was more modern and more difficult to get into due to world building being way more complex… I was wrong. I ate this thing UP. This may actually be my favorite of all of her books. I loved the entire plot and loved the way it unfolded. Can’t wait to jump into the next one.

First, I loved the strong bond between Bryce and Danika. It’s the strong female friendships that Sarah Maas creates that makes her stand out to me as an author. I never knew how much I craved those strong bonds until I read her books. And I love her for it. ❤️
The world Maas creates in this book is stunning but there’s a bit too much forced exposition (something I think Maas struggles with). Hunt honestly wasnt likable until he betrayed Bryce but that just may be the radical revolutionary in me. Like during the first half of the book I found myself siding more with the rebel terrorists than Bryce and Hunt, who kept judging the rebels while doing nothing to fight the hierarchy. Hopefully they fight the system in the next book.
