Boken består av en kompilering av några av Will Durants noveller, som även om alla är skrivna med en härlig poetisk ton, jag ändå fann varierande intressanta. Mitt samlade intryck från boken är därför 3/5.
Mina absoluta favoritnoveller är:
The Ten "Greatest" Thinkers
The Ten "Peaks" of Human Progress
Twelve Vital Dates in World History
Tillsammans upptar dessa noveller kanske 50 sidor, och jag har aldrig läst historia på ett så omslutande sätt tidigare.

With eloquence, Will Durant weaves an objective map of history's genius. Although some parts lengthy (mostly because I had trouble following references to pieces of history I was not familiar with) , most of the book was inspiringly beautiful.

I liked the style in which it was written, but there was little else. It was too short and discontinuous to even judge the remaining content.

Was so excited to pick up this book but I’m a bit disappointed as it wasn’t as I expected. Somehow, still a good book and wanna share bit about content so that you’ll know what to expect;
Key takeaways;
•acknowledging greatest minds in human history (according to Durant)
•his education-based book recommendations
•progress/achievements in human events and history
•world evolution/history from the earliest of times
Plus point for;
•his perspective, knowledge, and anecdotes
•equality when he spoke about women
•his observations and contrast —lessons from the past and prediction of time ahead
Drawbacks;
•not broad-gauge (more towards western philosophy instead)
•too brief/suppressed (though it’s a pocket version but further explanation will be helpful)
•the language style (wordy in terms of philosophical terms)
Still, this book is an eye opener especially if you wanted to read more philosophy type of book. I love his way of addressing issues by stimulating readers to came out with their own opinion or else it will be stale and unprogressive. I can say that it’s a book of western worldview which is why it’s kind of Eurocentric. Very insightful in terms of explaining important life factors; what contributed to civilisation, areas to tackle, etc and appreciate his writings for propagating the importance of knowledge.

Maybe the audio version of this book wasn't the best way to experience it.. but at least I have a new long list of books and subjects to explore.
