I loved the representation in this book, and I was excited to read something with so much diversity. This book wasn’t bad by any means, in fact, I think part of what I didn’t like is what was good about it. I think the messiness and confusion of being a teenager was portrayed in an accurate fashion, and all of that messiness and confusion made me uncomfortable. This book is probably for a lot of people, it just wasn’t for me.
I have the feeling that people are not going to like me giving this book 3,5 stars- but this won't change my rating so here we go
The narrator of the audio book wasnt great but also not the worst. I really didn't like the way he read messages and how his voice rarely changed when narrating other characters.
Felix was so god damn annoying in the first 70% but grew on me later on. I like him now and could even imagine being friends with him.
But he really is self-obsorbed. He is constantly talking about himself and doesn't get it that other people have problems too. Felix also judges the people around him way too fast while in the same breath complaining that everbody has an opinion about him.
Same goes for this: He is saying that he is sooo alone and only has one friend but also doesn't try to talk to others in his class except for being rude to them.
But he really grew characterwise and that was something I enjoyed.
I liked the writing, the setting and the premise of this book. Especially the ending. It was just toooo cute for my little heart <3
This book is important and I will recommend it because you can really learn about the struggles of trans & queer people. Which is something I need to read more about since I am not trans but want to understand more. Felix definitely helped me with that.

FELIX EVER AFTER by KACEN CALLENDER

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 stars
.
~ This book was SO close to earning a 5 star, but I ended up giving a 4.5ish.
~ Honestly, I needed a couple of days to sit and soak up everything that I read after finishing the book.
~Overall, it was a phenomenal YA read that explored identity, race, sexuality & gender identities, coming of age, bullying, failures, dreams, determination, and friendship and family dynamics.
~ It's challenging to write this review because I feel like every reader is going to have their own interpretation and make their own connections about what they read.
~ I highly recommend that you take this book in your hands and read it- Don't let it linger on your TBR shelf.
~ Lastly, we need more books like this!

Loved the story and side characters, but the writing felt repetitive and the main character felt a bit too whiny sometimes.
