The dedication for this novel is to trans and nonbinary kids and this book truly is a love letter to finding, accepting, and loving yourself. Beautiful book and narrative voice, Felix's voice always felt like a teenager, not an adult with a curfew or a child trying to be mature, but that perfect and weird middle-ground that is teenagehood.

I'm not really the target audience for this book, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Teens need more books depicting lgbtqia+ people. Especially if they're lgbtqia+ themselves. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the overall ending. It felt like it was leading up to this cute little romance between Felix and Declan and then Felix saying wait nevermind. I do understand why that happened though. I think Felix and Ezra should have stayed friends and Felix should have stayed single and worked on himself or something. I have other comments but I can add those another time.

“I thought, that, because of my body, I had no choice but to be a girl.”

My first read of 2023: Felix Ever After. I’m so glad this book exists. Please read this to understand more of trans and nonbinary POV.

For parents who support their trans kids: you are amazing. A light in the darkness. All my respect, support, and love for you and your kids.

So sweet and incredibly touching. Felix's questioning about his identity, even after he thought he had it all figured out, was extremely relatable.

Every praise you’ve heard for Felix Ever After is true. This was a beautiful mess, in the way only real life can be.
“It's easier to accept hurt and pain, sometimes, than love and acceptance.”
The contemporary authors that resonate the strongest with me are those who capture life as it is. Those who authentically portray life with all its’ flaws and blemishes.
Based solely on Felix Ever After, Kacen Callender is one of those authors.

For whatever reason – maybe the beautiful cover or my own misplaced expectations – I expected this to be a simple story. I expected it to be just good.
I did not expect it go down all the directions it did. And I definitely didn’t expect it to be one of the most emotional YA contemporaries I’ve ever read.

When I say emotional, I mean covering the entire emotional spectrum.
Callender lets their characters have ups and downs; they mess things up and patch them back together. One page I wanted to tear my hair out and on the next I was chuckling. They were real. And by the end I was left cathartic.

This book is more important than I can ever fully understand. So, I know this is a time for me to step back, and listen to those voices that need to be heard. Voices belonging to genderqueer and black readers who finally get the opportunity I’ve had my entire life; seeing themselves on the pages they read.

That – above all else – is what makes Felix Ever After beautiful and worth celebrating.
