A really fascinating take on Laura Bush. Sittenfeld is a great writer.

I was a little lukewarm on a fictitious imagining of Laura Bush's life when the book club selected this one (although I of course trusted Curtis Sittenfeld), and then ended up very much enjoying it.
This was compelling (to me) because the narrator was both relatable AND increasingly complicit in horrible things.
Part of me craved a Quentin Tarantino-style dramatic and gratifying rewrite of history, and I'm still figuring out my broader takeaways, but will gladly pass this along to a family member to enjoy.
Also, the grandma ruled and I loved her bits of wisdom. And the segments about Alice's love for reading would likely be touching to any reader.

I was offended by the author’s presumption
Good story, well written and enjoyed by this non-fan of a certain political official.
