This book was so wholesome! Found fmc a bit annoying at the beginning but then i remembered there was a time i also startes to act like a people pleaser like her. During my 7th-9th grade when i had difficulty saying no whenever mahnoor asked me for urdu notes. Or when i used to keep my mouth shut so i wont upset anyone.

She was kinda relatable.

Academic rivals trope was RIVALIG in this book and I LOVED IT!! Their banter was SO GOOD!!!

And obviously the tension between the two was so well written.

Julius is a whole amazon forest😭😭

Though, I wish it had 2 povs and ann liang's books focus mailny on fmc. I want her to focus more on mmc's background too!

Overall, it was a brillaint read. And my most fav by ann liang so far✨🤎

Ps. JuliusSadie are my first ever fav couple from a romcom

Such a cute YA romcom! (I might be biased because I read it on the plane to the bar exam, and I think I'd find anything unrelated to covenants and future interests absolutely terrific right now.)

some people are not going to like my rating and that’s okay!

to me, there wasn’t a shift in sadie and julius’s relationship until the second to last chapter. they were enemies for a long time and when they were nice to one another, they always used it against one another or just completely ignored it. it never seemed they actually meant any nice thing they said until the end of the book.

i would have also liked to have seen more of sadie’s home life and also have gotten more perspective on julius. i think that would have helped some of my issues with the story.

however, i am forever in love with ann liang’s writing style. it can’t compete with any other author’s and i will forever be reading all of her stories.

if i had to rank them, it would be:

1. if you could see the sun
2. this time it’s real
3. i hope this doesn’t find you

it’s not the book, it’s me. it’s time for me to move away from YA or at least the ones set in high school.
