I love the rides. There's not much a determined goal. Yeah, I know about surviving the rides and finding Quinn, but other than those, the MC has not many goals. I like Maggie and Russ, and there should have been more of them, but I understand why there was only so much of the couple. Good book! Great to be recommended.

Loved the idea of the trials and rides in this book and how they related to personal struggles in Blake’s life

This was the first book I have read by Neal Shusterman. I had no idea what to expect and wow, was I highly impressed by the novel. I was hooked from the outset and finished it in one sitting. A fun glorious thrill ride of horror. Unlike any recent works I have come across. I enjoyed the prose and the dark undertones of the story - how fear and regret linger on in a person. Thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to reading more of this authors work.

I've heard a lot of good things about Neal Shusterman. And I had high hopes for this book. It was my first Shusterman book and I was very disappointed.

The premise was interesting: Blake and his brother are trapped in a carnival after selling their souls to Cassandra. They must go through and survive 7 rides, each depicting something that they are absolutely terrified of. They must complete this before dawn. Now doesn't that sound amazing? I love scary, freaky books. The cover itself is freaky. But the execution of the story was bad. I disliked the characters. And the horror element that I craved for was non-existent. I hated this book. Gaaaaah
