I am so sure that this book is great. I loved the characters and their build. However, I chose to listen to the audiobook and just could not get past the voicing. It made the book much more unenjoyable for me!
Redwood and Ponytail is a beautiful book. Written in verse, this is a necessary tale of two girls falling in like and discovering themselves. It is a story about emotional connections, between the two girls, their families, and their friends. There are not enough books out there for this age covering this topic. K.A. Holt’s writing is just gorgeous, and this is a book that every middle school kid should read.

I’m not sure if it was just the audiobook format, but I had trouble following this book.
Great read about Tam (Redwood) and Kate (Ponytail) coming to terms with their friendship and attraction. Loved the voices in verse and the story told. Wasn’t crazy about the Greek Chorus/Alex pages. Reading a bunch of YA novels in verse to preview for a unit for my 7th graders. This could be a good option for the LBGTQ POV.
