Ok ok as a young middle school age lesbian I would have loved this book but reading it now it was just objectively bad. The writing was childish (I get that it’s middle grade but this is MY REVIEW) the formatting was weird and hard to read, and who the fuck were the Alex/Alyx/Alexx I didn’t get that at all. It was cute and gay but overall cringe
emotional hopeful medium-paced

This is just such a beautiful story. The free verse poem format made the book so much better. Just such a great LGBTQ story about figuring yourself out. 100% recommend.

This book..... every person should read this book. Two seventh graders finding their way in the world. Finding their version of “perfect”. Anyone who had questions as they grew up or wanted to know what it was like for someone questioning their sexuality. Written in verse, read this book.

This book would have been perfect in middle school. It reaches a new subsection of kids that need represented. Amazing!

really good! I got an early copy from before it was published when I went to a book festival last year, and I've read it twice now. It's really good and sweet and I like it a lot.

Another slam dunk by Holt!

DID NOT FINISH

I just couldn't get into it, and I didn't want to push myself through just to not enjoy myself and give it a bad rating because of it. I think those who enjoy books written in prose will like this one, and I might pick it up again and give it a shot in the future, but for now I'm putting it down.
