This was super cute, and I wasn’t expecting it! I am normally not big on the friends to lovers trope, but this book pulled it off so well. Dani and Max were so easy to root for. Both were lovable in their own ways, and I appreciated that they both respected the other and supported them.
Max’s parents were horrid, and we didn’t really see a lot of Dani’s. I wish we had gotten more insight into her life in NYC, but I’m guessing at least part of that was covered in the first book of the series.
Really enjoyable read that was an unexpected hit for me!

Dani started acting silly towards the end but I forgot reading is this fun!

My friend @liferhi_inspired described Jenny Holiday’s books as a Hallmark movie that accidentally aired on Showtime and that’s it, that’s the review. I just loved the rom com aspect of this (Love Actually is a major reference!) plus the “showtime” parts which gave both the plot and characters more substance.

A Duke, an American, good banter, a little spice, and all at Christmas time. What more could I want from a book?

Now that her professor husband has left her for a former student, Dani is done with men. Serving as Best Woman in her friend's wedding isn't enough to reawaken her romantic side. Neither is the handsome and charming Man of Honor, even if he is heir to a dukedom.

Instead, over the course of the months leading up to the ceremony, she and Max become close friends. But she lives in New York, and he lives in Europe. There's no way the two of them could have a future together, even if they did make the mistake of falling in love. Is there?

This book is utterly adorable. It's funny and steamy and smart. The friends-to-lovers story is a long, slow burn, which I appreciated. Insta-love has its place, but it was satisfying to see the characters get to know each other deeply before taking the plunge.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Oh. My. Gosh. I absolutely LOVED this book so much. While reading this book, I caught myself grinning at the pages just enamored by these characters. Dani and Max's relationship felt so natural and if you ask me, they're soulmates. Not to mention how much I loved Max and Max (seriously, I ate up every single scene with the two of them). I did not expect Sebastien to have as big of a role as he did, BUT I LOVED HIM! We were not only able to see the growth in Dani and Max's relationship, but also Sebastien and Max's. So many important themes and stories were touched upon in this book, and I believe that EVERYONE should read this book. There was never a lull where I was hoping something would happen - everything from the timing to the plot to the characters was perfect. I believe our favorite author and our favorite Depraved Duke will stay with me for a long time. If you want a feel-good read with extremely enjoyable characters, this is the one for you.
