"The Space Between" is a gripping and deceptive thriller that took me by surprise. The cover and title may seem misleading, but the story delves into edgy territory, exploring the hidden layers within our relationships. The twists and turns kept me engaged, questioning how well we truly know those closest to us. This thought-provoking and slightly creepy book delves into the mysteries of deceit, leaving readers both intrigued and unnerved.

When I saw that Laurel Schroeder was one of the narrators for this book, I had to get it and I am so glad that I did. Dete Meserve has woven a story of thrilling, romantic suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat. Sarah Mayfield comes home from a work trip to find her husband, Ben missing. Things between them have not been the greatest, so communication has been sparse. Now, tracking his last several days leaves Sarah with more questions and no answers. Finding clues, missing information and trying to stay safe, Sarah seeks to find the truth and Ben. Meserve had me hooked through this whole story. I was intrigued with the astronomy, the technological aspects and the journey of Sarah finding her way back to Ben. Each twish and turn left me wondering how this was happening, who was behind it and why. The perfect mix of an old fashioned whodunnit with today's knowledge.

Laurel Schroeder nails this performance with Sarah's POV. She is full of strength while feeling vulnerable, and gives the performance that edge of mystery throughout. This is my first listen of Timothy Andres Pabon and he is wonderful with Ben's POV. He gives Ben the determination and fortitude to keep going. This is an amazing listen.

definitely recommend

Really enjoyed this book. Listened to it on audible and could not stop listening! Definitely one of those books you just have to know what is uncovered next!

I've read all of Dete's books and I've loved them all. This one blew me away, on so many levels. As I was reading The Space Between, I had no idea where or how the story was going to end. I went back and forth, not knowing what to believe. What a page turner!

The main character, Sarah, is a very strong person, a scientist who questions everything. She's not one to just accept those things that appear to be fact but questions everything she hears and learns. When she comes home and discovers her husband is missing and could be in danger—or could possibly be a danger to others—she keeps digging for the facts to find out the truth. She has such faith in her husband and doesn't want to doubt him but all the evidence is not in his favor. I had a hard time believing in him myself, but I wanted to trust her feelings. What an amazing women she is!

I also loved the knowledge I gained about space, NASA, and the constellations from the story within the story. Sarah is a renowned scientist who recently made a major scientific breakthrough. We learn so much about all of that and all about the possibilities that are still to be discovered in space. There is some serious information there and it was all fascinating!

The Space Between is definitely a book I'll highly recommend. I guarantee you'll not be able to put it down!!

This is my favorite of her books so far. I loved the mystery and the way the story unfolded.

“There’s a lot more going on out there than what our eyes see.”

We follow an astronomer after coming home from giving a presentation to NASA to find her husband missing in this fast-paced suspense novel. The suspense continues throughout the book from start to finish. I was intrigued from the beginning and was so into the book and what was happening from start to finish. I didn’t guess the ending until the end, it was great.
