The only thing keeping this book from being a 5 star read was that sometimes the lack of dialogue markers made it difficult to tell who was talking. Other than that, I loved this book! The magic is so cool, I love that it's set in a library, and the mystery itself was *very* well written. Plus who doesn't love magic cats? I'm so excited to read the next book in the series!

Borrowed from Amazon Prime reading. Worth purchasing the series. The second book in this series was only published a few weeks ago.

The location of this book is very cozy! A library made from a converted mansion? Sounds great. In an unincorporated Oregon town. Nice setting. I know this is the first in a series, and I felt like I got introduced to a lot of characters and don't know a whole lot about most of them; I'm sure that's part of the process of writing the series.
I will say that pacing wise, this one felt slow. I know that the author is trying to be parsimonious with the plot, but don't wait until page 150 to find out the main character is a witch in a book literally entitled "Bait and Witch."
It took me a while to read this one because I found I just didn't particularly care what happened next.
Oh, the plot of this one is that the protagonist is on the lam, after having overheard sketchy dealings in her job at the Library of Congress, so she takes a job at a library in Oregon. But it's only temporary! (Sure it is. First in a series of "Witch Way Librarian Mysteries.") There's a murder, and the books in the library seem to speak to her. ('cause she's a witch.)
