Great
Can we just talk about Carlos? Truly an amazing character. He had so many layers. I love how just an important topic was laced in with an amazing love story.

Whew!!! The heat!
This book took me through some emotions, and I wanted to slap some folks in this book. But I loved Carlos and Akila, I was expecting the friend from the beginning to be the main man. But I loved it, and the heat in this book was everything. Its almost Sweatpants season again!

I love a good enemies to lovers story and this one was great! The tension was *chef's kiss* and it lasted throughout the book. I loved Akila. She was so assertive and put those sexist "podcast men" in their place. Ugh I hated hearing them speak. I also loved Carlos's calm but assertive energy. It made them a great pair. Though I do wish Carlos realized how horrible his podcast friends were and believed Akila the first time when she told him.

This was a quick read and it delivered on it's gimmick, but beyond that it was just fine.

I loved this book. Danielle Allen, you have a new fan in me. This book took me through a roller coaster of emotions from anger to YES GIRL YES to anger back to YES GIRL YES. The book takes on toxic masculinity full force while giving us a romance story at the same time. Long live sweatpants.

This is very much my type of enemies to lovers. I want you but I shouldn’t. I like you so much, I can’t stay away but I need to. I can’t stop thinking about you and that pisses me off. I can’t help but fall for you but I’m scared. Ahh I loved it.
Akila is also very much my type of heroine smart, suffocated, strong, independent, funny & confident. I loved everything she stood for and I loved her background. I did want to slap her at times with how hard she was fighting her feelings for Carlos but I also understand her reasons so it was weird lol.
Carlos is husband material period. That man was dripping confidence, dominance, and he was so seductive and calming to be around. I felt like I knew him in real life. I admire how patient he was with Akila and that he treated her like an equal. I loved them together.
I’m not sure why I didn’t give it the full 5, maybe bc it’s single POV or something else but there was something missing I can’t put my finger on.

Read This Book!
You do not have to be a romance fan to fall in love with this multifaceted story, although the romance makes it sweeter.
Akila and Carlos' story is, in essence, enemies-to-lovers. Their tension is palpable which makes it so satisfying when they find their way in to eachother's arms.
Even though I am a romance fanatic, it's the other theme of the story that has me in love. Ms. Allen tackles the intense topic: the objectification of women. And she holds no punches. This is such an important conversation and I love every single detail about the way Ms. Allen presents it.
Do yourself a favor and read this. You won't regret it.

Slowly making my way through Danielle Allen's backlist and she did not miss with Sweatpants Season. Akila and Carlos had chemistry from the moment they met each other and it just kept getting stronger. Akila annoyed me at times with her stubbornness, but it was warranted. Carlos was a great guy, but needed some sense knocked into him regarding the company he does business with. Great story with an equally great message.

Not going to lie . . . I took 1 look at the cover and the title and was looking forward to reading it for it's obvious appeal . . .
What I got was so much more . . .
I LOVED seeing the main characters fall for each other . . . but more than this, it was the story's reckoning with the fictional podcast, the behavior of which most women have dealt with in their daily life, that made my cheer . . . It wasn't preachy or ad nauseam to where it would have distracted from the romance, but organically in the overall story
I loved everything about it!!!! Definitely one for the re-read pile, for more than 1 reason . . .

This book really struck a chord with me. The story telling was just smooth like milk chocolate. It was just the right amount of sweetness, richness and yummy sensuality.
First of all, Akita felt like one of my girlfriends. She was focused, strong, funny and loyal. Carlos was all of those things as well. Which made their competitive rivalry for the Remix job entertaining and full of angst.
I love the social issue presented by the “City Boys”. It was a pretty compelling social discussion concerning the objectification of women. Really good discussion about that podcast and how they influenced their society. It made me think of social media today.
The writing was visceral and the sex scenes were intensely sensual. I love Wesleigh Siobhan’s narration because she nailed the hero and heroine voices. I couldn’t put this book down and it is one of my favorites now.
