I did not expect a book about two stand up comedians to be so heart wrenching or lovely, but this book managed it. Pace wise it did drag a little, and there were a few times I was confused about whether we were in the past or present and had to go check, but overall lovely. I loved Farley in particular and wish I could hear her tight five.

Funny Feelings is a sweet romance between Farley a stand up comedian and Meyer her best friend/manager who is a single dad (and former stand up comedian). I decided to give this book a chance after seeing it pop up all over the place as one of the most underrated romances of 2022. While this book wasn’t quite the smash hit for me as it was for others- it left me wanting more out of the story. That being said I enjoyed this book it was a solid read. This book hit lots of tropes- single dad, workplace, friends to lovers, and fake dating but I think it could’ve been stronger focusing in on two of those. I still would recommend this book for anyone looking for some sweetness.

I so badly wanted to love this book. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes, I adored the characters, and I was stoked to see Deaf representation. But my GOD, the pages of monologue in seemingly every chapter drove me insane. It made sense in some instances, like when Fee was spiraling, but for the most part it could’ve been edited down.

Not really a climax in this book and the fake dating thing fades away pretty quickly into the book. But it's very good and has good spice lol

Overall a wholesome, quick read featuring friends-to-lovers, fake-dating, and a found family you will fall for. Representation for mental health and the stigma dealt with by comedians -particularly female comedians - in a career where all they seek to do is show others some laughter, yet they are so often met with ridicule. 

My is a well developed character and I enjoyed his journey, and the relationships with his daughter, Hazel. Hazel and Fee’s relationship is a winner from the start, though I was hoping for more growth or exploration of Fee’s story; it felt like a bit of a quick fix at the end then a skip and a hop to the epilogue.

Quotes from comedians prologuing each chapter is a wonderful touch, and foreshadows what is to come in each chapter. The first person dual POV serves this story well, and the time jumps are easy to follow.
