I gave the book 3 stars. I love the idea of cats being able to communicate with their owners. Even though I feel like the book is lacking something. I'll be going on with the series.

Scarier than the later Joe Grey books. Sets up Joe and Dulcie discovering that they can talk. Plausible story of how they feel about it. Kate, the criminals hoodwinked wife, actually turns into a cat and becomes friends with Joe and Dulcie. Kate is too strange to be believable even in this story. The crimes and thus the detectives efforts are pretty complex and convoluted. I enjoyed the other Joe Grey novels but this one had a few too many and too drawn out danger scenes and stomach turning descriptions.

Book #32 read in 2008

This took a little time to get into, but in the end I enjoyed it. I am interested to see where the characters go from here.

In my personal experience it would have been better without the philosophical musing about how the cats had gained these powers, for lack of a better word,. But a good tale and hearing if from the point of view of the cats was fun and novel.

I picked this up after my mom reviewed it, as I have a dear friend who loves cozies and loves cats and I thought she'd enjoy. Naturally, I had to read it first. It was a fun read - although it took a bit of an odd turn in the middle, but I thought it pulled back from the oddness nicely. I will be interested to read more of the series, I particularly loved the character of Dulcie.
