Ravenpaw is probably one of my favorite Warriors characters and I’m so sad that we didn’t see much of him after The New Prophecy. This is the reason why he’s one of the few cats I wished we got a full Super Edition instead of a novella.

The plot was okay in this one. Like in many Warriors novellas, we have a travel (this time to old SkyClan to bring them some kittypets that want to become warriors) and some arbitrary attack by other animals and cats. Once again, I realized that I’m just not the biggest fan of modern SkyClan and especially not Leafstar. With every entry she has in the series, I dislike her more. At least the ending of this novella was good – and really sad!

I liked here more the focus on Ravenpaw and his life and relationships. He remembers his time as an apprentice with Graypaw and Firepaw which made me so nostalgic as well. Also, his relationship with Barley is just the cutest that I want to cry. It makes me so sad though that their relationship is never confirmed in the text. The fact that they are a couple is heavily implied here. I mean, for what other reason would Barley’s sister ask Ravenpaw if he and Barley have kits? In the text itself, they’re just called “friends”. It’s the same with Tallstar and Jake; their relationship is heavily implied as well but never explicitly stated which is sad and upsetting at the same time.

Considering everything, this may be my favorite Warriors novella, next to Hollyleaf’s Story I think?
