Looking forward to continuing with the next book in the series.

One of the greatest pieces of literature I've ever had the privilege of reading. I was compelled to read this while visiting my local library and as the saying goes, "We truly don't know what's in a book until it's opened." This book literally takes you on a walk alongside the main Character, Alan Christoffersen. This man reminds me so much of the book of Job where he loses everything and feels their is no hope. As he attempts suicide, he hears a voice speak softly and surely, "Life is not yours to take." He then remembers what his wife told him, "LIVE."
He then decides to take a Walk but not any ordinary one. It will turn out to be a life changing journey on his search for hope. He leaves all behind and begins his walk to the furthest point he can decipher on his road map. He will encounter ppl along the way who will help save his life through lessons they share with him.
I will leave you with some quotes from Alan Christoffersen,
"I have decided on a destination; the path is but detail. I have begun my walk.
I do not know what lies beyond the horizon, only that the road I walk was meant for me. It is enough.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. It may be overly sentimental for some, but I enjoy a good sentimental read that pulls on the heart strings now and then. I will certainly be reading the next one in the series when it comes out.

Ok, it was well written, but from all the hype and reviews I expected "Life Altering" revelations. So I was disappointed... 1) He's going to walk from Seattle to Key West and in this book he only gets to Spokane 2) It's a f**king series of this walk books.

For me, it was not an "OMG! I must buy the next one in the series!"

So like I first said, well written but not enough for me to invest my time in reading the whole series.

Evans knows how to weave a story. At the end of this book the guy didn't walk very far, so I guess we are in for a loooonnng walk.

Interesting. Written like it's a nonfiction book, although it's a novel. This is the first of what will be a multi-volume story. I rated it "like it" because I thought the writing was cookie-cutter. My favorite part of the book is hearing about things from a point of view of someone walking. We don't do that in the U.S., and, as Poi Dog Pondering says, "You get to know things better when they go by slow." Will I read book 2? Sure.

A journey of one man's life - how you can go to having it all - to nothing. How small things in life and people are important with a purpose in your life. Very inspiring! Would like a sequel as he ventures to Key West! "
