it wasn't what I expected. there was a portion of the story where a main character was missing Rice just kept ramping up the suspence and I couldn't put it down. Kind of a reworking of the Lolita story with a very different ending

My notes say I found this book implausible and icky, and I came close to DNF'ing. As I recall, the protagonist is a creepy illustrator obsessed with an underage girl. Ew.
