immediately started this one after reading the others and it did not disappoint. this book kept up the same heartstopping action and fantastical adventure as the first one and I know for a fact that I will be disappointed twhen I finish the series. If you even remotely like fantasy, this book is for you.
Joy Joins the elite team of hunters out of self preservation but is finding that she actually likes it. But as the folk and beasts start to increase she will have to fight and lose more than she ever has.

So my daddy chose this book and I have to say, I liked it, but the narrator kinda took me out of the book with the automated reading. It didn't make me feel like I can be immersed in the story and picture the characters in my head, but I could picture the wolves and the dragons and everything else in my head. Maybe if I try reading the first book I can enjoy it more? But it was alright, nothing to run home and tell mama about.

I had a rough time getting through this book. I can’t pin down anything particularly wrong with it. The setting is interesting, the characters are pretty solid, and the action is engaging, but it’s all a bit mediocre to me. It’s still a good book, just not as good as I usually read.

Another great book in the series. Looking forward to see how Joy grows in her new position as Elite.

This is more of a 3.5, possibly come back and give it four stars kind of book. I read it pretty quickly and mostly enjoyed it, but I was thrown by the Jessie bit.
I wanted Joy to expect Jessie to hate her or be jealous of her only to have it turn out that nah, Jessie wasn't like that. I didn't mind Joy being right about Jessie needing to find a purpose in the city because it made sense and made the story better, but Joy being right about Jessie being a totally typical Christer girl who didn't believe men and women could be just friends didn't really add anything to the story other than Joy got to be right about nearly everything again. She still could have avoided Mark due to that whole him being newly married and not wanting to intrude on that without the added bit of Jessie's jealousy. Really. And for a brief second when we first met Jessie it seemed possible... only then no. No, of course not.
It's a little thing but it bugged me.

I'm really enjoying this series so far. I like that it seems that the city may not be as perfect a place as it tries to be.
