I take back anything I said about being mad that this is part of a series (although the waiting will kill me) because I never want this to end. I am in love with this book and these characters and you best believe I will be pre-ordering the sequel at the earliest opportunity.

I adored this book. Secret magical society in 19th century England + gay? Sign me up. The characters are funny, complex, flawed, and incredibly lovable. I thought the darker parts of the book (see content warnings) were handled incredibly well. I’m excited to see how the sequel goes- I can’t wait!

Absolutely amazing. The writing was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed the authors prose. the characters were extremely enjoyable and relatable, and the romance was fantastic. There was a perfect amount of angst, smut, and genuine love and care for each other. A fun mystery and an interesting magic system. Would recommend if you’re looking for a refreshing high quality queer book.

This book is the first in a series and in doing so they end up doing a lot of world building so that is why it’s not a higher score. I think she has some work to do as an author in order to get me to love characters more. I was not as in love with these two men as I really need to be in order for the love story to work out as it was written. But the adventure was good and I enjoyed all of the magic. I think I wish It was just more plot and more time dedicated to falling in love with the characters and the character backstory as opposed to the world building.

Fun, exciting, and incredibly romantic! This was the romp around Edwardian England I didn’t know I needed. I love Robin & Edwin but especially my sweet boy Edwin, who is just coming into his own power. The magic system was interesting and the plot was both fast-paced and well-written. The mystery of the novel was easy to follow & fun to try to figure out. My favorite thing, however, was the emotional connection between Edwin & Robin 🖤 I really enjoyed watching them fall in love & I can’t wait to see how lovely the next book is!

All the stars! Please read this book! It reminds me so much of Deep Magic by Diana Wynne Jones. The magic system is super cool based on Cat's Cradle and once you've spent your magic for the day, that's it; you have to rest it like a muscle.

Robin and Edwin are so loveable and the jock/bookworm vibe they have going sends me!

I literally can't say enough nice things about this book.
