Much more educational than scary, en exercise (pun intended!) in mental rigor and moral argument. Long exposition with a contrived cutoff ending.

I would say this book is not so much scary as it is incredibly disturbing, but I would argue that that's the point. Blatty pulls no punches when portraying Regan's possession, and his writing style is very detailed and descriptive.* I definitely recommend reading this book, whether you've seen the movie or not.

*Note: I read the 40th Anniversary revised edition.

Enjoyed the book. Although must say it was very dense and lethargic at times.
