Not as good as the movie. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this.

The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty was exactly the right kind of horror book I have long been on the hunt for. With its cryptic characters, the eerie yet well-written storyline, and the abject horror in general — this book was near impossible to put down. As intriguing as it was bone-chilling, I was glued to the spot in a haste to know what happens next. In the end, I’m pleased to say that my curiosity in the supernatural was satiated. Lastly, if anyone should ever need me for the next few nights, I’ll be in my parents’ bedroom with the night light on.

Honestly suburb. Great atmosphere. Crazy how the film was able to capture the essence of the book so accurately.

I think my familiarity with the movie hampered my enjoyment of the book. At least in the beginning. I wasn’t feeling the suspense at first I was just waiting for the actual EXORCISM to take place and wasn’t appreciating the build up like I would have if I haven’t seen the movie so many times. This is all a “me problem”, but I will say the last 60 pages were fantastic the build up and pay off were totally worth it and I can see why this is considered a classic. And when I finished it led me to want to watch the movie again
