Really dragged on. Thought the story had so much potential when I read the plot but the actual book never lived up to what I expected. I did not think any of the characters were interesting, I did not care about their stories, I was mostly bored. I really did not like how the black kid was written either. It wasn't offensive just so random? Might read again as a second chance.

There are very dark moments to this book unrelated to the thriller aspect, and initially I was wishing the plot moved faster. But in the last 200 pages the story picks up and I was surprised at how satisfying the end is (without being predicatable).
