I didn’t love this one as much as lessons from a one night stand. It’s not because I couldn’t get into the characters, because I did! I’m not excatly sure what it was but there was just something that wasn’t able to push me over the edge into the 5 star mark.
However, that being said I loved that Wyatt realized he was being a moron and came back after standing up for himself. I loved that his mother was on board with their relationships as well and I can’t wait to read another book in the baileys series!

I received this book from InkslingerPR in exchange of an honest review.

My second Piper Rayne book, and also the second book in the Bailey’s series. This time we have Brooklyn Bailey in the spotlight, along with the one she is going to end up with, Wyatt!

I was delighted that this series would continue, and that this time we get Brooklyn. We heard about her in the previous book, she was the one going to be married soon, though everyone was telling her it was a bad idea. Well, she found out fast that it was indeed a terrible idea. Jeff stood her up at the altar. Yep. What a dick. Who the hell just doesn’t show up at his own wedding, and then even has the freaking guts to just cancel per text? Thankfully, Brooklyn has her sisters and brothers who are there for her. But now she has to figure out all sorts of new things, like how is she going to be paying for her apartment? How will she continue with life now? Since she has known/been with Jeff for a long time and suddenly the dickwad is gone.

But while she will struggle for a bit, she also shows she is a very strong woman who isn’t going to let a man ruin things for her. First thing she does, and which made me laugh, was throw out all his shit from the house. Go go go girl. I would have done the same if the one I loved ditched me in this way. Screw him, screw his stuff. Go pick them up from the floor all the way down below. Muhahahaahah.

And hey, thanks to her throwing stuff around, she met Wyatt in quite a funny way. By throwing a book at his head. Sorry, dude. Books are meant to be read, not be thrown. :P

Yes, next to Brooklyn we have Wyatt’s POV. I was instantly smitten by the guy, oh my goodness. I am normally not one for a guy with a beard, but it seemed that it fitted this guy perfectly. He is hiding things. For instance, he is Brooklyn’s new boss. His daddy is a big important dude. Slowly, very slowly, he gets more honest with Brooklyn, but also with her brothers. Yes, he is getting in the good cards with the brothers, and I just adored seeing him hang out with them. He was here temporarily, but you could see that he was enamoured by this town and its inhabitants. Which made me smile. He is a big city boy, and he is learning that a small town can be quite lovely as well. However, at a point in the story I just wanted to kick him between his balls. He was just acting like Jeff. Not understanding Brooklyn and why she wants to stay close to her home. I was so happy all the time, but then he had to ruin it. Dude, really?

These two have an instant attraction, but they are both taking it slowly. Wyatt especially is taking his time, though we do learn, through his POV how badly he wants to kiss her and have sex with her (oh my). I am happy that they took it slowly and didn’t instantly go for it. Now they had the chance to get to know each other, find out what they liked/didn’t like, let Brooklyn get over a certain jerkwad.

I was definitely pissed at Wyatt’s dad and his attitude, but I just adored Wyatt’s mom. She was so sweet, and so kind. I loved how she instantly accepted Brooklyn, and talked normally to her and even tried to be closer to her.

I had a laugh when Wyatt came home with tons of Chinese food and Brooklyn had no clue how Wyatt knew she loved it, she was all assuming, and then he told her about a certain photograph. :P

There are lots of scenes filled with sexual tension, and also some with more than just tension.

I also can’t forget, that one thing that happens with Holly and Austin. *puts her hand to her head and swoons*

Of course, the other Bailey’s are also around. We see how the brothers get together to teach a certain someone a lesson, we see them have fun with Wyatt. But we also see the sisters. I am still not a big fan of Savannah, but I have hopes that we will get to know her more in her book. Maybe I will even like her then. My favourite Bailey is still the grandma. Dori is just so awesome. She may be old, and living in a centre for old people, but dang, you don’t want to piss her off. I had a laugh at how nosy she was. I loved how big this family was and how huge their love for each other. They occasionally just crashed at Brooklyn’s place when they thought she could use some love and junk food.

Oh, and I was so happy to see Brooklyn go for it with her potion business, and that she finally has the chance to build that up and get more famous. I am sure that her new potion company will be big in the future. They do seem to always help. Can I please have one for stress or headaches?

This time we still hear about the gossip site, yet still have no idea who is managing that thing and how it always gets all the information directly. I do hope that we get some more hints over the next books. Yes, books, I am guessing that each Bailey will get their own book, so we should get 9 books in total.

I could probably rave about this book more, but I think I will end it here. I just adored Wyatt and Brooklyn together, though I wished that Wyatt had been a bit more honest from the start (the whole mystery with his last name/his family was just a bit eye-rolling to me). It was fun to go back to the Starlight Lake, see the Bailey’s again, see Holly and Austin together (and once again having sex in the backseat, do they ever learn?), meet new characters, and oh my the romance. I can’t wait for the next book, it seems to be about either Rome or Denver. One of them is a daddy. Oh my!

Oh how I love the Bailey’s! This family is going to be one of my favorite family series!!

My heart broke for Brooklyn and how her stupid fiancé dumped her in the beginning. But I knew immediately how strong she was with how she handled that day. And she proved it over and over again in the rest of the book. Love her heart and love for her family and her friends/work family.

Now Wyatt, he had some growing to do for me to like him. Wasn’t too impressed with him in the beginning but he definitely made up for it really quickly actually ha! I was hoping he wasn’t going to be a high maintenance type of guy. Not going to give too much away people, you gotta go and read this one to find out for yourselves!

But I did feel like I was apart of the Bailey family while I was reading this! Which I love that. Piper Rayne are so good at writing stories that get you to feel that way, like you are in the book with these characters!

This is definitely a 5️⃣

Dnf, tried the audio version and the narrators weren’t good. The plot was also too over the top extra.

I really wanted to like this book. I listened to the audiobook and wonder if I would have a different take on it if I had read the ebook.

I liked the Bailey's for the most part. I felt like some of them went out of their way to make Brooklyn feel like she could handle any kind of problem in her life. I didn't hear anywhere in the book that every time Brooklyn encounters a problem, she falls apart. I think she was entitled to all of her emotions based on what her fiance did both at the wedding and after.

Her sister bombarding her with the it's too soon, he might just be a rebound thing was irritating. It never occurred to anyone that maybe Brooklyn was more upset about how it happened then she was that it DID happen. I just felt like some of her family didn't give her enough credit for being an adult.

Brooklyn also struck me as being flighty, but I don't know if that was from the story or the way in which the character was narrated.

I was kind of indifferent to Wyatt. He struck me as angry and not being strong enough to stand up to his father. It also bothered me that he didn't put Vanessa or his father in her/his place more strongly than he did at the wedding.

The audiobook had 50+ chapters. Admittedly, some of them were short. I just felt like the book went on forever. Luckily, I was able to listen via Hoopla. I'm torn about continuing the series. Part of me wants to know about the other Bailey siblings, and another part of me is afraid of having to endure another book that goes on and on.

Also, what was the advice from a jilted bride?

Zusammenfassung:
Einsam.
Verlassen.
Ungewollt.

Meine Gedanken:

Fazit:
Ich habe "Kisses from the Guy next Door" verschlungen. Die Story war einfach nur schön! Eine perfekte Romance Story die einem das Herz schneller schlagen lässt!

WOW!!!! This is the first book I've read by this talented duo, but now I need to go devour everything by them including the first and next books in this series. Brooklyn and Wyatt's story was a long one but I'm so glad it was. This book was fantastic, amazing, funny, and hard to put down. I found myself laughing out loud at some points and cringing (in a humerus way) through some of the awkward moments. Also, when things were going down hill, I was sitting there rooting so hard for these two. I got nothing accomplished between when I started this book and finished it because I couldn't stop reading to do what I needed to do. Highly recommend this story.
