Not entirely sure what to make of this one. The plot is well-woven and the characters are well-drawn--even the unlikeable ones were realistically so. I had an inkling of who the villain would turn out to be, but Maeve offers enough red herrings that I was never 100% sure.

I just feel like something is missing from the development of the relationships.
SpoilerMaybe because we didn't spend a ton of time seeing Irene and Lucas together, just had it implied in later conversations? Or because the bulk of Lucas and Simon's interactions were so hostile it was difficult to swallow their relationship at the end without more development?
It was as if the romantic plot was bigger than the action plot, and rather than expanding the action plot, Maeve chose to chop down the romantic plot in a way that didn't entirely make sense to me.

I know that seems like a lot of griping for a book I gave 4 stars, but it really is a good read, just choppy in parts.

I quite enjoyed this book! I liked the main female character Irene a lot. The book honestly focuses on her and Simon (one of the two main male characters) the most, but Lucas (the second male character) plays a decently large role. It's hard to find poly media, and bi male leads? Needle in a haystack. So I was very pleased finding this novel.
The witchery/magic aspects of the book were good, and the motivations of the characters and their backstories were intriguing.
Overall, a fun, quick read with an interesting plot, and likeable characters.
