honestly did keep me guessing who was who but found the plot twist at the end annoying because like then what’s the point in the whole book😂

</also there was really no need for them to be all shagging the same person who turned out to be their sibling/daughter>

I almost didn’t read this one because of the reviews but I am sooo glad that I did! What a sick, twisted story! I personally loved the authors writing style and thought the way each narrator was talking to someone made it that much more sinister. I sometimes don’t like when chapters alternate narrators but with this book, each time there was a chapter for a new character I found myself excited to see things from their perspective. The twists kept coming and even when I thought I figured it out, the last chapter blew my mind. Absolutely loved this one! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

She's Mine by A.A. Chaudhuri

What do you hope for in a psychological thriller? Deception. A narrative that draws you in and leads you down one route, but closes your eyes all of a sudden, and you open them to a dead end, a different path entirely. But a deceit that serves to entice and enthrall and intrigue and ensure that you not only read the book with gripped excitement, but you pause and ponder. Try to untangle to web of events, try to second guess what the characters will do next. But fail miserably to do so, because the twists and turns are deliciously unexpected and shocking. And while you may have been (partially) right, the anthor has another explosive and unforeseen twist to hit you.
In She's Mine, A.A Chaudhuri achieves all of this and more. A novel that moves forward breathlessly, flitting between then and now, seen from the first person narrative of a complex cast of characters, each with their own dubious idiosyncrasies and personality traits and motivations. You wonder where to begin with your emotions. Who to feel sorry for, empathise with. You decide that this person has been given a raw deal, you feel compassion, but moments later, you rail against their actions and feel a loathing towards them..how could they?
At the heart of this excellent and tightly written thriller is an examination of the human condition, the self serving ego, the eschewing of the sensible and rational, safe and responsible, for the overpowering feelings - the intoxicating desires of lust, power and control.

A brilliant story and one that left me breathless at its conclusion. The different narratives, the complex and sinous events, the clever plot twists and well places reveals, all led towards a dramatic and incredible denouement.

I was deceived by She's Mine. Completely. I'll clarify. I was happily deceived. And for that I have A.A. Chaudhuri to thank.

Looking forward to more from this exciting author and to more deception to come.

She’s Mine - A. A. Chaudhuri

Ooh this is juicy!
A child that has gone missing never to be found, wreaking havoc through peoples lives. There is blame everywhere, especially of Christine, who lost sight of her daughter whilst trying to speak to her lover.

We get inside the heads of the people involved in this story. Christine who shut down and blamed herself now seeking psychiatric help again. Greg her husband who hates her for losing their child and now spends time shagging Amber his young lover. Then their friends Janine and Miranda and their kids Ellie and Daniel who can’t stand their mother, who never loved them. Then there’s Dr Cousins the Psychiatrist, cool and professional - well we have a brilliant set up.

With short sharp chapters alternating along timelines and through the different characters heads we start to unravel what has happened.
There is a creeping sense of tension and it transpires early on that Heidi is still alive and wanting revenge, or is she?- is it her? Who held her and brought her up as her ‘mother’? There are so many clues drip fed through this to keep you hooked, I just couldn’t put it down - so cleverly done!
No one seems to be able to tell the truth, so many twisting secrets we go from one unreliable narrator to many!
I felt myself constantly questioning what I thought and changing my mind about who Heidi could be and who her ‘mother’ was. You are inside their heads and they mess with your mind! There are quite a lot of double standards going on and ultimately the characters are very selfish individuals. It is full of dark obsession, manipulation and deceit, it’s fabulous and will have you gripped until the very end!
