MORE POTENT THAN A TOXIC BEETLE!

Omigosh, I ate up this story like I was starving for burritos. How can one put down a book that starts like this: "When Nathan came to, the dead girl was crying. He was relatively sure she wasn't supposed to do that."? The author pulled me right into a situation where not all ghouls are necessarily bad, yet the cruelty of humanity definitely shines through. I'd rather spend time with a zombie with a heart than a human who's heartless. Great character and world development. I bet you'll say, "Okay, one last chapter and THEN I'll go to bed," and then be halfway through the book. Warning: might cause food cravings. You've been warned.

One of the things I love best about this author is that she defies traditional genres. She refuses to be pigeon-holed. I mean, take this book. What even is this? A cyber-punk, post-apocalyptic coming of age, with zombies and a May-December romance. But mostly, it's just a really good story.
