An interesting read, but ultimately disappointing. I think the first of the four parts of this book was the best by far, and the book fails to reach that high, even by the end of it, which is objectively the most shocking, if a tad rushed. All in all, this piece has too many characters that sound similar, not all that interesting of philosophical talks, and an annoyingly slow language that makes up for a really boring read, despite the book itself not being as trite.

First of all, Dostoevsky is amazing. Sure, he was a drunkard, but that didn't stop his writing from touching peoples hearts! Hah. Anyway, "The Idiot" follows, you guessed it, a total idiot. The thing is people only think he is an "idiot" for two reasons: first, because he has suffered many physical ailments making him somewhat weak and sometimes distracted; second, because he is genuinely good-hearted, caring, and often perceived as naive by others. Of course, they only think he is naive because he values people and love over money and power. "The Idiot" is a great story of what being human is, and how different people find happiness. There were many great scenes that were realistic and powerful.

The author called it a failed experiment. I agree. Beware of authors getting paid per word for serialization and pantsing it.
