All their problems are solved by throwing money at it.
Every reader has their literary crack, that one author they turn to for reliably mindless entertainment. For my wife, it’s James Patterson. For me, it’s Clive Cussler. Yes, his books are formulaic and clichéd, and there’s little real science or archeology to them anymore, but the books are a ton of fun, an easy read to breeze through in a couple of sittings.
Pirate is my first adventure with Sam and Remi Fargo since The Tombs (and my first with Robin Burcell as co-author), but it was precisely what I was craving. There’s a missing royal treasure, a cypher wheel MacGuffin for decoding the hidden map, a couple of easily-looted shipwrecks, rich bad guys with guns, a visit to Oak Island, abandoned castles, and even some digging into the Robin Hood myth.
Everything happens at a breakneck pace, with an 800-year old mystery solved far too easily, and more eye-rolling at coincidences than I’m accustomed to, but it still provided the entertaining diversion I craved. Sam and Remi are such a great couple, a unique husband-wife team of adventurers, and are quickly surpassing Dirk Pitt himself on my shelves. Keep ’em coming!

The writing was a little better but the plot was just…silly. I think they’ve done a better job in past books explaining the history and the stakes. I didn’t really buy Sam and Remi as civilian treasure hunters anymore, they were cold-blooded.
An interesting read.
It was okay. I felt there was more action than actual history and treasure hunting and not all the characters were fully developed. Maybe it was trying to fit different stories into one.
Felt it could have been better developed.

I enjoy this series for the fun, unrealistic fluff that it is, but this book the ending fell really flat. Very anticlimactic and plain boring. Up until the last chapter it was enjoyable enough, but not one of the more interesting ones in the series.

It’s fine, felt like the Fargoes were just chasing/following the bad guy most of the time instead of taking charge so much
