A very powerful collection of poetry that uses interesting metaphors, beautifully direct language, and is brutally honest. The only reason this is not getting a fifth star from me is that I didn't love a lot of the illustrations /photos in that they felt like banal Instagram statements, especially in comparison to the poetry.

This wasn’t my cup of tea. I didn’t love all the photos, maybe it just doesn’t translate well to an ebook format, but it just wasn’t for me

Some pages are going to stick with me forever. This was well put together and had some really great moments. I honestly just am not huge on poetry. I always pick up a collection that intrigues me in hopes that I can feel pulled into poetry and love it. But outside of some classics I had to read in high school that I loved nothings really done that yet. This is a great collection and if you want good poetry about the queer and female experience I think this is lovely.

i read her book of poetry, Artemis made me do it, before I read this one and I absolutely loved it. This one... hmm this one I just didn't life. I think I've lost my taste for stream of consciousness poetry, at no fault to Mateer herself. Still lovely, with plenty of wonderful thoughts and painful experiences but just not my cup of tea.

5 stars not because it’s the deepest or most complex poetry collection I’ve ever read but because it just hit a lot of the right points at the right time and I subjectively adored it
