Hit all the points it needed to for me, and made me emotional. I saw someone said it was like free therapy and they were right.

Another thoughtful collection of poetry by Trista Mateer. I was both heartbroken and inspired while reading these poems; it was all beautifully written from Aphrodite’s and the poet’s perspectives. Reading Mateer’s poetry is like climbing into an open heart and feeling every emotion ever more intensely than before. Mateer’s poems have you thinking about it for months afterwards and you’ll catch yourself feeling a wide spectrum of emotions as you recall how it first felt to read the poem that felt like it was pulled from the deep crevices of your own heart.

This was a really wonderful collection. I liked that some of it was from Aphrodite's perspective and some was from the author. It has a lot of important things to say about self-worth, sexism, and queer identity. This will definitely be a collection that I will revisit.

This feels like one of those books everyone should read. It just makes you feel so many things so much.
