It was a little slow to get into but then I found myself invested in the characters and I just wanted to get back to reading and hanging out with the lobsters.

I really enjoyed the story. It was a cute little romcom but not super memorable. I felt like the characters felt kind of flat and the conflict was very underwhelming.

"Even my very gay ovaries have a reaction to the sight."

The writing in this is abysmal. The main characters are really boring, and the side characters all have singular personalities.
Any time there was a heartfelt or emotional moment, they had to undercut it with "comedy". Like these people are just so quirky, it's like a damn Family Guy cutaway.
The big fight in the middle of the book is annoying and makes very little sense.
They're queer, queer women date their friends all the time. She told her beforehand that Kala was her best friend. Why does her dating history matter that much?
And the whole abortion thing was none of her damn business. She shouldn't have to dole out Kala's personal details to get forgiveness.
No thanks.
The whole book, a big part of Hope's character is that she has dyslexia,
and when Becca decides to win her back, she makes her read a fucking essay. Girl, do you even listen to her?

"My first reaction is to gulp like a cartoon character."
